Hi
I don't know if anyone can help me. I am currently taking the Marvelon Combined Contraceptive Pill. I started my new pack on 4/7/06 I then missed one pill on 9/7/06 (took it 17 hours late), I then took my next one and the rest up to today at the normal time. I had sexual intercourse on 16/7/06. Will I have been protected? Also, before I had sex I was getting some brown discharge, which I usually get if I am sometimes late taking a pill, is this normal? Today I have started with a bit of bloating and I've got a tiny bit of pain like what I get just before I start my period and also a light brown discharge. What could this mean? |

You were protected, and you totally did the right thing by taking the pill as soon as you remembered, then taking the next pill on time!
YOU DID NOT need back-up if you only missed one pill, and you did the right thing as you have done.
ANYTIME a woman is late or misses a pill, she can expect some breakthorugh bleeding or spotting. This is normal, and can be red or brownish =) |

Thank you for your response.
It is the first time I have let a partner ejaculate in me. Like I said in my previous post I have expereiced some bloating a small twinges can this be caused by semen or by the pill fighting it off or something? Also my ovulation period is between 20-25 July might this be the cause? I had sex on 16 July.
If you have missed a pill in a previous packet does this affect what happens in another packet?
Also would I get twinges etc or symptoms of pregnancy 4 days after intercourse? |

Also just to explain a bit more.
Last night I felt really tired and went to bed about 7pm, which I never do. when I got up this morning I went in the shower and when I got out I felt faint and sick for about 5 mins then I was fine. I have had spotting again today but I'm not getting cramps, just small twinges every now and again. Its only been 5 days since intercourse and I started getting these symptons yestersday which would have been 4 days. Is it possible to have symptoms this early? Also as already mentioned above I am on birth control so would this be an effect of this working?
