| Hi, im Elle and im 14. Five or Six months ago, my boyfriend, who is 16, and i went to the movies. Then i went to his house for dinner, and when we were in his room, we decided we wanted to try and have sex.. A few weeks later, i still hadn't had my period, and i was getting worried.. I also felt sick, and missed two weeks of school. I told my parents i had gone to the doctor and that it was just a stomach infection, when in reality i was scared to go to the doctors because i was scared i might be pregnant. Then in the following three months, my belly grew larger and i still hadn't had my periods. I have been having abdominal cramps, and i know im pregnant because i can feel the baby kick.. When i look in the mirror, i feel it isnt me, and i start crying randomly for no reason. My parents are really getting suspicious because of my belly, and my mom is saying that she wants me to take a Pregnancy test. Im getting so worried, and its too late to abort. Do you think all this stress might lead to a problem with the baby? |

The stress will probably not harm your baby, but getting no prenatal care can cause harm to both you and your baby. It is very important that you take a test, visit your doctor and get a referal to the hospital. You maybe scared, but trust me, the hospital has probably seen 100's of other young woman your age pregnant. You are doing yourself no favours by not tapping into their resources. Most places have young mothers clubs so you can get in touch with others who are in your situation.
I was a young mother myself, albeit not quite as young as you are. It is difficult and scary BUT you can get through this. Your parents maybe be mad and shocked, I know mine where, but they will help you through this. Yes, it maybe a terrible time to have a baby and I'm sure if you had your time over again you would have done things differently. But what is done is done and you just have to face up to it and take responsability. And not everything has to be scary and negative. Sometimes it can be hard to feel happy about something like this, but again you are doing yourself and your baby no favors, go and have an ultrasound and see your baby for the first time. |
