Pregnancy test says negative but is it really negative?

Hi. I have been on birth control for 6 years. The reason of me being on it is to regulate my period. I also take my pills on time every day like I'm supposed to. Here lately I have been really sick with a cold; however my period lasted only a short time which is very unusual for me. It was pretty much just a spotting and I am having real bad cramps in my lower stomach (like menstral cramps). I took 2 pregnancy test. The first one was on October 6th and the other one was today October 14th and they both say negative. I have no other signs (eg. sore breast, fatigue, and etc.). Could someone please tell me what they would suggest to do and if they think I'm pregnant?

It is almost unusual to get pregnant if you are on pills. If you still have doubts, better see your doctor to get a check up. They could do a blood test to verify if you are pregnant or not and if you are not then maybe she could investigate why your period changed...
