Hi all, just realised that i am about 5 weeks pregnant and a friend of mine just told me that i should have started taking folic acid earlier on but i did not know this!! What does folic acid do? am i too late now? Also i used to take Stim & Trim capsules for the gym, can these cause a miscarriage?
First of all don't anything without speaking to your doctor first. Some things are very dangerous in pregnancy. As for the Folic Acid one of the largest benefits to taking it early (and you can start taking it now! it isn't too late!) is that it helps to avoid some types of birth defects. However don't assume that your baby will have a problem, eat well for your health and that of your baby, and get a good prenatal vitamin (take it at night to avoid nausea).
