Pregnant and in Danger, or already miscarried?

i'm 17 y/o, i'm not on bc and me and my boyfriend have been sleeping together for the past year. Today is Oct. 21 and I've been bleeding, or spotting i guess.. it was very light pink and sometimes brown.. since Oct. 1. none of this bleeding, the entire time, ever resembled the bleeding of my period. i didn't know what this meant so i went to the doctor to get a presciption for birth control and asked him about my situation, he asked me if i was pregnant and i said i didn't think so. he didn't give me a pregnancy test, but he gave me a years supply of birth control..... It was only light spotting up until the 19th when BAM! I got these extreme cramp like pains in my lower middle stomach. these pains were so bad that i had to come home from work, and when i got there, they got so bad i couldn't even stand up! my boyfriend had to hold me up so i wouldn't collapse onto the floor. and suddenly had to change my tampon every hour! i went to the hospital and while i was waiting i went to the bathroom to change my tampon and out came two large blood clot, almost tissue looking pieces. i told the doctor this, all of this... they didn't take a pregnancy test, they didn't do any tests, they said they would refer me to a gynocologist, and i would probably get a call soon, but if i start to hurt really bad again then to come back. and then they sent me home. the bleeding as since then lightened up enough to change my tampon every 2.5 hours... but does this sound like i just had a miscarriage? what happened to me...

Also, today I noticed that the lower middle part of my stomach where i was having bad cramps is now really tender and sensitive, as well as my breasts. and my body is so tired..

my bleeding is now gone, but now i dont know when, if ever, i got my period, nor when i should get it again... can someone PLEASE help me!!

well i think no one has replied because this is a very strange case,

you need to tell me a few things first.

when was your period due?
was this severe bleeding the onset of a period or midway through a cycle?
are your periods very regular or do they fluctuate in length and severity?
do you get cramps with your period usually?

any severe cramping or bleeding is a sign of miscarriage and should always be checked out with a doctor. 25% of all pregnancies end prematurely, so it could have been a miscarriage, yes.

such severe bleeding would lead me to doubt whether you could still be pregnant if you had conceived. usually scanty/light bleeding or spotting can appear in early pregnancies, or mild cramping, but not so much that you would change a tampon every hour or almost collapse!

If you want to know the best thing is to take a test, however if you were previously pregnant and miscarried it might still show positive because the hcg is still in your body, so i suppose it might not help much.

your doctors dont seem very helpful, am i right in guessing that you are a little shy to press for answers and ask questions? just nod and listen to all they say and leave the room full of unanswered questions?

when your gyno gets in touch do not hesitate to ask questions, and push further if you dont get satisfactory answers! this way you wont be so uncertain!

my period was due october 4th, but the light bleeding started earlier than that, and the heavy bleeding only lasted one day but it was near the end of october, no where near when my period was due. this one day when there was heavy bleeding was the only day i had to change my tampon every hour, and the only day i had pains so bad that i collapsed. for the rest of the month before this day i had no bad cramps, just light bleeding that was between light pink and brown discharge like blood, it varied every day.
my periods are usually very regular, always 7 days long aswell, and i used to get bad cramps but these pains feel nothing like the menstrual cramps i had.

sorry it was due oct. 8... but now when am i supposed to get it again, 28 days after that week?....28 days after i stopped bleeding?... i don't understand.
