Hi, I am pregnant and I have problems in falling asleep. Is it safe to sleep on my stomach while pregnant? I can’t find any suitable position and even when I fall asleep I wake up frequently.
Hi, it is recommended for pregnant women to sleep on left side, while it is considered to be the most suitable position. But, you can also sleep safely on your stomach if it is not too big and if it doesn’t hurt you. Questions about sleep safety during pregnancy are mostly concerning optimal blood flow and nutrient supply to the placenta and the fetus. The most notable effects can occur when women lie flat on their back. Some pregnant women have a shortness of breath or heartburn, especially in the third trimester. Sometimes using pillows may be helpful.
