Hi, I am 47 years old female and I am thinking about using premarin because I have started to feel first symptoms of menopause. However I have heard that this drug has many side effects among others that it may cause breast cancer. My mother suffered from breast cancer so I would like to know how risky it is for me to take this medication.

Hi, as premarin is drug which is actually mixture of estrogen hormones you would be very cautious with taking it because of breast cancers which are estrogen dependent. Because your mother suffered from breast cancer, it would be the best to consult your doctor about this drug. Anyway if you start taking it you would have to check your breasts frequently.
