Hi. I was diagnosed with mono. My doctor told me there is no specific therapy to treat mono. What are Prescription Medications for Mono? I will ask some prescribed meds for sure.

Hi. Yeah, there is no specific treatment for mono. Prescription medications for mono include oral prednisone. These steroid meds are usually prescribed to reduce the swelling of the tonsils. You may also be prescribed with antibiotics. Antibiotics can`t treat mono, but they are prescribed to treat strep infections, following mono. You can also take some general treatment measures. It is recommended to drink lots of fluids. In that way you will prevent dehydration. Long term bed rest is rarely indicated. However, you should get more rest than usual. It is also recommended to avoid alcohol.
