Preventing alcoholic from drinking

Hi,
My wife, who has had severe alcohol problems for the last year has decided to go to treatment. They will take her in on Wednesday. Today is Sunday. I want to cut her off completely from alcohol because she goes into a stupor when she drinks. Is it safe for me to do this for a few days until I can get her to treatment.

No, it's not safe -- a severely addicted alcoholic should be under medication before stopping completely like that. I know this answer is a bit late but may help others with the same question.
