Hi, I had prostate surgery two weeks ago. I have painful urinations, weak stream so, I avoid to drink a lot of fluid. How long will this go on and how can I make it less painful?

Hi, I know how you are feeling as I had PVP laser surgery two years ago. My prostate was 163cc. The doctor said it should be vaporized about 30-50cc. But, I had difficulties urinating long after surgery, even six weeks later. Still I had increased frequency and urgency for urinating, I felt pain at the tip of the penis and at the end of voiding. A year later I had another surgery, because the prostate was still too large. I believe that since then I had greater improvement, as I was less frequently urinating. Now, I go on check-ups every 3-6 months, just to follow up condition of my prostate.

| I had Indigo laser surgery in October 2006. Although my flow has increased I have nocturia worse than prior to the surgery. I urinate about 20 x a day. Pain and discomfort AFTER voiding at night, not while voiding, continues. my urologist says it's due to the irritation of the bladder as the result of the surgery but that was 4 months ago. My quality of life has actually decreased since the surgery, especially at night. |

| I had laser prostate surgery 2 weeks ago because my prostate had enlarged and was pressing into the bladder causing pain and spasms. I had the catheter in for 5 days. Very uncomfortable! I experienced not being able to hold my urine originally but that has been better recently. My problem also is I'm still bleeding after passing urine and the head of the penis seems irritated when the blood passes. |
