Hi there Fran, I have suffered myself with Endometriosis since i was 18 im now 25 and have had 2 laparoscapys.
Firstly there are different stages of Endometriosis,mild, moderate and severe, without a laproscopy( camera into your stomatch to look at your ovarys,womb ect) you wont know what stage it is at.
I was really worried about my fertility as i have always wanted children and have been advised many times not to leave it until 30 to start a family- easier said then done!. I really want children but as having Endometriosis can make it very hard if not impossible to concieve naturaly, i think whoever told you to get pregnant is a cure, then they clearly know little about the problem.
There are ways to minimise the pain and to stop you from ovulating and having periods without taking such drastic action, and without damaging your fertility. There are pills, hormone tablets, the Deprovera injection ( which i am on and have been for the last 18 months) that can stop periods all together until your ready to start a family, and many more.
Having children is not a cure for Endometriosis as it can come back even after child birth. My advice to you is to get a second proffesional opinion, get as many as you can and i think you will find each doctor will tell you different ways of managing with it. Ask to be referred to a gnecologist, they are the only people who can go into detail and answer all your questions.
I find writing questions down to take with me helps, its easy to forget when your trying to take it all in! x
Ps. Be carefull about what you read on the internet as many sites about Endometriosis very are over the top.
