Hello everybody... My latest PSA result was 7.7 ng/ml. I have a history of prostate cancer in my family (both my dad and granddad died from it) so I’ve been advised to have a biopsy taken of my prostate using the ultrasound technique. So, I’m interested in what exactly is done during the procedure? Does it hurt and how long does it take? I would also like to know if Valium can be helpful? Thanks for replies.

Well, you need not to worry - pain is really minimal, if at all!! For me, the worst part of all was waiting for the results... Even worse is trying to think positive while deciding in your head what to do if they turn to be positive. Anyway, as the procedure is not painful, I see no need for valium... Good luck with your biopsy. It could save your life!
