Hi. I am 49 years old, and I went to my doctor yesterday. I was feeling ill, and I felt stinging when ever I urinated. After a few tests, he has diagnosed me with prostatitis. I know little about this disease, and I don't know why I've gotten it. I am really puzzled with this. What are my options?

Well, prostatitis comes sometimes with age. Other times because of some sexually transmitted disease, or some big stress. It can be cured, and the treatment is constant during a few months. In severe cases, an operation is needed, but most of these conditions can be cure with medications, mostly alpha blockers. It is recommended that you drink a lot of water, and not to exhaust yourself.
