What are the symptoms of proteinuria? Can it somehow be detected in urine without doing lab tests? I’ve noticed that my urine has become darker and smells different than usual. Low back pain occurred few days ago and it worries me. Is there a connection between these two things? I think that it has something with kidney failure.

I also had low back pain, but didn’t notice any changes in urine. I thought that back pain was related to arthritis. Then I developed high temperature, over 40 degrees. My urine test has shown proteinuria, and ultrasound shown small damage of my left kidney. I was on cefalexines i.m. for 2 weeks. My physician suggested me to drink a lot of tea and be very careful to avoid progression of damage of tissue. There is no way to detect proteinuria than to do urine test.
