I need to enquire about proton pump inhibitors. My dad had some inflammation so he had to take some medicine. It was some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. They caused the ulcer appearing in his stomach. Now doctor recommends proton pump inhibitor. Can you tell me something about it? Please, help me!

Proton pump inhibitors are used to for treating stomach ulcers and the well known is omeprazole (Losec). There are lots of acids in your stomach to help you digest food. The drug your father has taken probably has increased the production of the acids and they have caused the ulcer. Proton Pump Inhibitors help completely blocking production of stomach acid.
