I believe you are talking about Pulsed Radiofrequency Neurotomy (PRFN), a procedure used to disable and prevent a specific spinal nerve from transmitting pain signals. Radiofrequency Therapy (RT) was first established, but later it has improved and developed a less invasive PRFN. It is effective for the treatment of painful facet joints. A precisely targeted electrical field is applied to change the function of nerves. PRFN applies 'pulsed' radiofrequency and an electrical field to the target nerve for short intervals at a lower temperature. Nerve tissue remains as it was, because this technique "stuns" the nerve.
