Hi, I have some questions on seizures. I am wondering what are the things I should avoid if I have seizures, which medicines could I use and what tests can I use to determine a seizure type. Thanks.

Hi, if you have seizures, you should definitely avoid stress. It can make them much more frequent. Which medicine will you use, depends on your seizure type, your age, allergies, gender and interaction with other medicines. Commonly used anti-seizure medicines are neurontin, lamotrigine, tiagabine, clonazepam and some others. There is one thing that is very important to remember- don’t stop using anti-seizure drugs even if you are feeling better. If you decide to do that, consult your doctor first. You should determine which type of seizures you have. That is often done long term video/EEG monitoring and MRI scan.
