Hello,
My doctor says I should have abdominal hysterectomy. I have a few questions that I would like to post about hysterectomy, which I am ashamed to ask him. So, when am I allowed to have sex? And which activities should I avoid?
Thanks in advance!

Hey there,
I would like to say at the beginning that doctors are there to answer your Questions about hysterectomy and you do not have to be ashamed of anything since you are not asking anything abnormal…
You are allowed to have penetrating sex when you fully recover from hysterectomy. Since you’ll have abdominal hysterectomy, this will generally require 6-8 weeks. This period is also needed for woman to return to her normal activities… In this period you should avoid following activities: heavy lifting, active sports, bending at the waist, pressuring o the wound and sexual penetration. But, I guess you’ll still talk to your doctor and please, do ask him this Questions about hysterectomy again… There is never enough information.
Good luck with your hysterectomy!
