Recommended Azulfidine (Sulfasalazine) dosage

Hi, my brother has been diagnosed recently with ulcerative colitis. We are all worried, because we have heard it is a serious condition. We went to a doctor and he diagnosed him and prescribed him with Azulfidine. I would like you too tell me what is the recommended Azulfidine (Sulfasazaline) dosage?

Basic effect of that drug is anti inflammatory. It stops the secretion of leukotriens, which are main mediators that cause the inflammation process. It has a certain chemical affinity to colon region, so its effect is at t highest level here. Recommended dosage is 1 to 2 grams daily in the start, just to prevent side effects from occurring.
