I had my sling done in July 2006. The only problem I've had until recently is it feels like I have to push to urinate. But in December I came down with a bladder infection that's not going away! I go back to the regular DR. today and will hopefully get a referral back to my Uroligist. I do remember him telling me when I had it done that if it is too tight it can cause alot of problems and that the sling can break down for various reasons. Sex for hasn't been painful for me but my husbands been nicked a couple times by something! I assuming the sling. A little part me did kind of get laugh out that! |

I had the monarch sling (from human fascia); a month later the mesh started to penetrate into the vagina, cutting my husband. Symptoms such as yellow discharge and blood leakage. flew to NYC to a male MD who specializes in female urology and where most urologist send their difficult cases. He removed mesh but not sling. The rest of the mesh started to force its way through the vaginal wall again. Two weeks later, I was back to have it removed. (No post op pain!) it was like seeing a dentist. I noticed since I started bathing in tub, I have abdominal pain...I suggest showering, and never using shower wand upward to rinse vagiigii. After sex, do urinate, so that bacteria can flow out after sex. Some urologist say to take one dose of antibiotic just after sex or when swimming. Never wipe from back to front, always wipe with downward strokes. Eat lots of yogurt to keep your flora (good bugs that will eat bad bugs)up. If you must bath, bleach the tub first and rinse well and stay the heck away from all bubble baths and or bath solvents! |

i've been doing my research and i'm confused as to what my options are
I have incontinence to the point and i'm seeing a surgeon to possibly have the bladder sling operation done.
I'm now scared to go ahead with it. But i can't go on like i am with the incontinence.
I'll be damned if i'm going to wear depends (very active and in my mid-40's) |

| I had bladder sling surgery and now I have developed a horrible body odor. I have dry skin so I have never had body odor in my life and this one is horrible. I can't even stand myself. I have a doctor's appt but appointments are hard to get and you have to wait. Did any of you have a bad odor with your bladder infections? The doctors and nurses did not mention this risk or any other, for that matter. Only the normal risk of any surgical procedure. |

| kay_thanks wrote: | | I am thinking that your bladder infections MAY not be a result of your surgery but rather, a possible bladder disorder. A year ago, I started getting recurrent bladder infections every two weeks and they have persisted. I have an appointment coming up with a urologist but I've done my research and you may want to look into Interstitial Cystitis. |
I had a bladder swing surgery done on Nov./2006 and shortly after all the problems started with the constant bladder infections. After about a painful 6 month period my gyn sent me to a specialist and I was diagnost with Intersistial Cystitis. Ulcers in the bladder. I am starting to think it was caused by the bladder lift surgery. It has been alot of work, changing my eating and drinking big time. Feeling better though. |
