Hello, I need your help, I am worried for my mother. She started acting weird few months ago. She lost a considerable amount of weight suddenly and lost appetite completely. In the beginning we thought it was some strong viral infection, but her condition soon started to affect her mental state. She lost interest in everything and start skipping all her daily activities. I convinced her to go to doctor and he prescribed her with Remeron. Will that drug help her?

It is very likely that your mother is suffering from depression. Just so you should know variety of symptoms that characterize depression is very wide so weight loss is included in that group. Remeron is an antidepressive that should help her deal with the symptoms. But this kind of medication does not show their effect over night. Be patient, everything will start to get better soon.
