Remicade infusion for people with Chron's disease?

Is Remicade infusion for people with Chon's disease effective at all? I have heard that it is a very effective medicament in treating several conditions, but I wonder why isn't that a first line of defense? Are side effects that serious? I ask this for my mother who has been suffering from this grave illness. Can you give me any info?

Remicade is a medicament with very serious side effects. That is the reason it is not included in the primary therapy. Only in situations where there is no help from standard drugs, Remicade is given as a solution. It has many side effects, most of them including symptoms like fever, chest pain, shortness of breath etc; and these are mild ones, really serious include increased risk cancer and autoimmune disorders.
