Researchers found that people who take pain pills like ibuprofen have a lower risk of developing Parkinson. Earlier studies showed that anti – inflammation drugs prevent Parkinson’s disease. These NSAID’s (non - steroidal anti – inflammatory drugs) contain aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve).

Study found that regular use of NSAIDs other than aspirin reduced risk of Parkinson’s by almost 50% and the use of non aspirin NSAIDs in period of two years lowered the risk of developing Parkinson’s by 56%. Also, study found an interesting fact that women who took aspirin had reduced risk of Parkinson’s when compared too men who took aspirin as well.

Conclusion remains that anti – inflammatory drugs could suppress Parkinson’s regardless to the fact that Parkinson’s disease isn’t inflammatory disease. However, researchers agree that it’s not wise for people to take NSAIDs just to prevent possible risk of Parkinson’s disease because regular use of these drugs can have some serious side effects.

More research needs to be done in order to find whether these drugs really prevent Parkinson’s disease. While waiting on results doctors advise patients not to use NSAIDs or aspirin just to prevent possible risk of developing Parkinson’s.
