During new research protein that could control bone growth was discovered . This finding is very important because it opens new possibilities for bone diseases treatments. Scientists found a mechanism by which small protein called osteocrin can control bone growth. This protein is produced by osteoblasts which represent body’s bone-forming cells.

Study which was conducted on genetically engineered mice revealed that osteocrin controlled the bone’s supply of a CNP hormone which represents great importance for bone growth regulation and this research can be first step in developing new drugs for bone disease treatment. This osteocrin gene was discovered as part of a research to identify bone genes that could have therapeutic importance.

This study is very important because it identifies classes of genes interesting to researchers because they could be examined more and be a part of new drug development for bone disease. Researchers also claim that this study represents beneficial effects in preventing some other disorders that have influence on bone growth especially in children.
