Researchers found on mice experiment that immune system has ability to keep tumor silent for many years. They also found that it can kill some cancer cells but this is not happening quick enough so that it could destroy or just reduce tumor. But, what is important is the fact that this findings may lead to treatments that could help patients diagnosed with tumor to live with silent tumor for the rest of their lives.

Scientist already known that cancer can lie still in human body before suddenly appearing but they didn’t know for sure how to check it. Thanks to this experiment on mice, researchers can now reproduce this condition of sleeping tumor in laboratory and observe cancer cells that are being check by the immune system.

Researchers agree that further investigation needs to be done and that findings may help turning cancer into chronic condition similar to other serious conditions that can be controlled for many years by taking drug.
