My grandfather will go to angioplasty next week. I’m afraid because I know that possible complications are very common. I heard that restenosis is very usual. Is it a truth or not? Can somebody tell me what is happening when Restenosis following angioplasty? What the usual treatment are for restenosis?
Well, as I know, restenosis occurs within first 6 months in about 40% of patients who had angioplasty. Restenosis is usually treated with repeated angioplasty, insertion of a second stent and occasionally by brachytherapy. Stent technology is developing rapidly and I believe that restenosis will probably become much less a problem in the future.
