Hello, I hope that you can clarify some things for me. My friend’s kid ahs been diagnose with some serious neurological disorder, not autism, something like Joubert disorder. And it seems like the poor kid also has some physical condition connected to the primary one, retinal dystrophy for example. What will happen to him?

The syndrome you are mentioning is a very rare one, caused by both cerebellar and brainstem disorders. Retinal problem is just one of the several he will most probably have to face, including ataxia, hypotonia, development problems etc. As for the prognosis, it is hard to say at the beginning, mental development might be affected only slightly but it also might be damaged significantly.
