Hi, I would like to learn more about SCM syndrome. My brother was diagnosed with this disease, and I don’t know anything about it.

The sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle is responsible for contractions in cheekbone region, in the forehead, on top of the head, in and behind the ear, over the chin, over the SC joint, over the forehead, and deep in the throat. Whole this region can be affected when there is SCM Syndrome present. Sometimes the throat ache can be mistakenly taken as symptom of pharingitis, so other signs of which patient is complaining should be taken into account. The forehead pain is one of the very few instances, where referred pain can cross the midline, as the pain is frequently felt in the contralateral forehead area.
