Hi, I suffer from TMJ and six months ago I made a splint. Since then I’ve been trying to get used to it, but it seems to me that it only causes open bites. Could it be made wrong and maybe another one would suit me better?

Hi, I am 23 and have open bite. I also suffer awful pain in my jaw from grinding. So, I got a mouth splint to wear during night, I am checking my condition with an facial surgery expert. The first splint I got was very uncomfortable for me, but later I got it adjusted. Unfortunately, I am still in a lot of pain, sometimes constantly. I also fear that my bite is deteriorating more and more. A CT scan didn’t also confirm that there is any big problem with my TMJ. If your splint doesn’t fit right it will make your jaw even worse then before. So, in my opinion you should see your doctor to get anew splint.
