my husband is 55 yrs.old and has been an auto mechanic for 37 yrs. his knuckles are VERY VERY SWOLLEN ON THE INDEX FINGERS IN THE JOINT NEAREST HIS WRIST. IT IS BEGINING TO APPEAR IN OTHERS AS WELL. LAST WEEK A CLEAR FLUID STARTED OOZING FROM THEM. HE WENT TO PRIMARY CARE DR. AND WAS PUT ON IBUPROFEN AT A STRONG DOSE. DR. WASNT TOO HELPFUL IN MAKING A DIAGNOSIS. WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS. NOT MUCH PAIN UNTIL HE TRIES TO CLOSE HIS HANDS BUT A LOT OF STIFFNESS. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
