MY GRANDSON IS 6 HIS LEFT TESTICAL IS SWOLLEN UP VERY LARGE WITH NO PAIN AT THIS TIME THE HOSPITAL SAYS HE NEEDS SURGERY TO REMOVE FLUID ASAP DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROCEDURE?
I suppose they are talking about hydrocele. Hydrocele is a cyst, a fluid collection that surrounds the testicle in a scrotum. It is repaired in a procedure called Hydrocelectomy.
The patient is asleep, under general anesthesia. The fluid is removed by making an incision above the groin. Success rates are high and prognosis very good.
The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. The recovery is quick but the patient should rest for the first few days after the surgery. He should be his old himself in a week tops.
