Scientists have been using stem cells for quite some time and turning them into any cell or tissue type in the body. Stem cells are powerful because they could turn into kidney cells, liver cells, and skin cells. Until recently, only live stem cells have been used but scientists working in a British lab managed to turn cells from the dead embryos into living tissue.
This breakthrough achievement may lead to new treatments for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's but it could also raise new ethical dilemmas.

Scientists have already asked questions about the ability to recognize dead from alive embryo and if the dead embryo meant something being wrong with the cells.

Embryos that died naturally have been taken from the fertility clinics when couples underwent in vitro fertilization. However, right-to-life campaigners warned that there was no scientific prove that the cells were that. If researchers managed to prove that the cells they used were really dead, the right-to-life campaigners wouldn’t appose to their use and there would be no ethical dilemmas or the feelings would be divided just like in the case of organ donation.

Those who supported the use of cells from dead embryos feel that many patients suffering from diabetes, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's could benefit from the treatments.
