Dying your hair could help temporarily because it is drying but it could make the situation worse in the long run because you could develop sensitivity to the hair dye and make it worse. If you feel drying your hair out could help I would suggest trying a hair dryer instead since it shouldn't cause any damage to the skin but be gentle. If you google Seb Derm and alternative treatments you can find a lot of good information that your doctor might not tell you. For instance limit or eliminate your intake of sugar, caffeine and carbs try probiotic supplements if you are able and try omega supplements such as Flax Seed Oil. Emerging research is suggestive that this problem is related to Candida Related Syndrome or combination of poor diet with too much processed foods (Don't Eat Fast Food). Also try gentle shampoo containing Tea Tree Oil (if you email me I could tell you the name of one I use but I don't know if I'm allowed to say here it has eased the severity) I am currently trying Jojoba Oil. My biggest suggestion would be that anything new you try, do it in moderation because you never know if it will make it worse. Like if you want to try Jojoba Oil (it has to be 100% pure) only try it on one spot on your scalp at first to see if it seems to get worse there.

I have had seb for over 10 years. it comes and it goes. I only have one suggestion. If you've been to the doctor and they told you had to shave your hair off, don't do it. My first outbreak was when i was a teenager and i was so self conscience about it that I didn't tell any one till it was soo thick and .... just really bad. Well I went to the doctor and she told me to shave my hair off; my mother and i told the doctor that there was no way i was going to shave my hair off. That evening we went to the store and i picked up baby oil, put it in my hair and let it soak over night. The next day my mother combed the dense scales out and it hurt...it hurt bad, I had no scales, a soar scalp, and i had my hair still. I treated it with various shampoos there after. I was a hair model for l'oreal and Clariol campaigns there after. don't loose hope and don't shave your head!
