Severe dryness on inner thighs

I have very dry skin on my very inner thighs, it itches very badly and it is kinda red. I am a little over weight, could this be a factor? Do you have any suggestions as to what I could put on it? Unfortunately it is not easy at all for me to go to the doctor's due to finances so I hope it isn't serious but I also hope you can offer some type of advice. Thank you very much.
