i have been told this is related to the sudden temperature change that you get after having a warm shower. i suffer from this and i know how annoying and painful this can get. from my doctor i was told to turn down the temp and not take such a warm shower. if you wrap your self up in a blanket after the shower and get the body temp up it will go away. from experience if you enjoy a warm shower get your ody temp after you get out and it will not be nearly as bad. or have a cold shower but that's not too fun

I have suffered from this for 2 years. My father also suffers from this. I was to the point where I could not even get ready in the mornings because the pain was so terrible. They only thing that helps me is to take Benadryl an hour before showering. Also, it helps if I put my cloths on right after I dry off.

I am 25 years old and have been suffering from the same symptoms for as long as I can remember - Severe itching and pain when exiting the shower, sweating, swimming or even sometimes running on a cold day. Luckily and unluckily the only area that I have these symptoms is my legs so they are easily scratched and scratched and scratched.

Lotions, antihistamines and warm/cold water only mask or soothe the pain/itch for minutes at a time. At points it is unbearable and I am brought to tears for that half hour time period. And although it gives me piece of mind to see that others are inflicted with this "illness" I know for a fact that 98% of the remedies mentioned do not and will not work. Most of the doctors I have seen just write me off and give me a medication for steroids or an antihistamine. I think it is time someone pays attention and find a simple cure for this painful and very inconvenient ailment.

The only thing I haven't tried is a changed in my diet since I know it has nothing to do with my environment (I've lived in 5 different places with all the same symptoms). I'll try it out and keep everyone posted. Until then I think its just something you need to just bite your lip and wait it out for 30 minutes. Not the best but it doesn't seem like there is any other option at the moment.

Good luck.

I would suggest to RyderC to really try olive oil or pure vaseline before or while showering. I used to get out of the bath stiff as a stick and would be so depressed and unable to move, the only think I could do is lie in my bed and try to fall asleep. Try either of them while ur showering and put a bit once you finish the shower, it was a miracle for me.

I even tried medical bath oils such as sebamed or QV bath oil but they had absolutely no effect, I was as stiff as if I didn't use them, only olive oil and vaseline worked. Since this ailment affects all your well being I really think it's worth trying.

What everyone suggests is possible, but not likely.

I have found an article that seems more reasonable. It says that sodium lauryl sulfate in soaps is to blame.

HERE IT IS:

I suffer from this condition and I understand the dread of taking a shower. I visited with my physician and he prescribed Singulair 10mg once every day. I can honestly say that it has controlled my itching very well. I still use tepid water and Aveeno body wash to treat my skin as best as possible. Without the Singulair my misery would have continued.

The root cause may be some hidden disease or virus inside the body and this symptom(itching) might just be one of its symptoms. After all there are many viruses ( like HNS , H1V5 ) or parasites which can reside in a human's body , without human's knowledge ,sometimes even for his whole lifetime and show symptoms only occasionally when body is under stress ,immune fall (as in cold sore ) or unatural habitat like bathing with strong soaps / hard or hot water ??
Out of curiosity only can I ask people here (who have been suffering with this problem since years) that do we some more common problems??
Actually I suffered from this problem when I was 16-19 yrs old . now I am 21 and only rarely once-twice in 3-4 months does it sprouts again and it is not any severe. But Further recently I have been suffering from hairfall ,greying hairs also , even from my eyebrows . And I feel stressed everytime and sleepy also . I know These do not look like any disease symptoms( so I didnt consult doctor ) but neither do they show a healthy sign. and also probably since my birth I had the acne and oily skin problem ( ya , I know , my body looks like a pit of diseases but thats the way it is , and I donno how my wife is gonna bear with me ) and my body is not well developed also , weak bones ,soft muscles etc. . and I cant plAy sport for long time , no stamina. And yes Lastly and probably the worst , whenevr I take long journey to some place I get into constipation ,then I take extra medication for disposal , this also belong to me since my birth.
