Severe shaving irritation ???

I recently shaved my vaginia after I had sore red spots.. on each side of the outer lip.. several... and one on my labia. They were sore and burned... they sort of look like pimples... they are not crusted over or anything... I also had a yeast infection at the same time. that seems to have cleared up. Could this be irritation to shaving? I shave all the time.. and have had this happend twice now... I notice the abdominal area where I shave is irritated not sore tho. I am worried it may be herpes... I used some medicated powder on it and it seems to help with the pain and itch...
