Sexually promiscuous daughter

Hi, it took time for me to face with the facts. My daughter is sexually promiscuous, and I don’t know how to talk to her about that. She is 20 years old, and I never talked to her about these things.

My mother never talked with me about those things, and I always missed that. It’s not her fault, she had the same cold relationship with her mother, so it’s no wonder that she passed it on her daughter. Even today when I’m 24, I’m still embarrassed to say some words in front of her that are related to sex and boyfriends. When I was a teenager, I needed someone to tell me about these things, but since it wasn’t possible, I started learning by myself. Of course, I did a bunch of stupid things, and I became promiscuous. I didn’t know anything about relationships and boyfriends, so I started sleeping with anyone who would hold my hand and call me his girlfriend. I was promiscuous and very unhappy, but I didn’t know at the time that it was so wrong. My mother knew what was happening, but she didn’t know what is the reason for my behavior. Of course, I didn’t know my self what was the reason until my shrink helped me understand.

She is 20 and is way past what any good would have done by talking to her about sex. The most you can do now is to be speak up about her looseness. Its OK to make that point known to her, but to keep dwelling on it is not OK. Say it once, and hopefully it will get through her head. This is something she will probably grow out of though as time goes on.
