Here's the deal. I had been feeling great after my procedure. I bled lightly and off and on for a week. No pain, took it easy, etc. On Easter (3 weeks post abortion) I started having a UTI. Went to the doc during the week and got a urine test and scrip for antibiotics. I felt better immediately and then Saturday starting having the "urgency" issues again, but no pain. I've been feeling very bloated in the abdomen but still no pain when I urinate and no fever. I went to my post-abortion checkup on Saturday and my pregnancy test was negative and my pelvic exam was fine. He said I should expect my period in the next week or so. I Still haven't gotten it but have had the bloating, some minor cramping and a brief episode of spotting on Thursday.
I'm concerned that they didn't do an ultrasound. I know there aren't any products of conception left since my pregnancy test is negative but what if there is something else wrong and that's what's causing the bloating, etc? Is it normal to not do an ultrasound? She said that if the test had been positive they would do it but they don't do them for a negative result.
I guess I'm just nervous that this UTI/bloating/lack of period is some kind of complication of the abortion even though it didn't start until 3 weeks post procedure.
I had a miscarriage, and had to have a D&C, which is very similar to an abortion. after, i didn''t have a period for six weeks. my doctor said that is was very normal. i also had some bloating but never started. i don't think you have anything to worry about. if this wasn't normal, i'm sure your doctor would be a little more concerned.
