Should I take cortizone injection?

I played tennis for three years and I really played it a lot. Then one day happened I’ve catch tendonitis. My friend told me he used to have the same problem and he used cortizone injection. He told me I should try it to get pain relief. Should I take it, what is that and is there some other way then injection?

Cortizone is just a type of corticosteroids, they are related. Medications of this class reduce inflammation really powerfully. People used to take corticosteroids to reduce inflammation caused by variety of diseases with inflammation. Sometimes cortizone is used interchangeably with corticosteroid. Corticosteroids can be taken by mouth, inhaled, applied to the skin, given intravenously (into the vein), and also it can be injected into tissue of the body. I purpose you want to know if cortizone injection merely pain reliever or temporary remedy. Well, I have to say corticosteroids are not pain relievers, they just reduce inflammation. The result of using cortizone could be pain relieve, but just because they have reduced inflammation. These injection can cure diseases by permanently resolve them when problem is localizes to a small area, as tendonitis is.
