Me and my boyfriend have been hanging out for 9 months.I'm 21 and he's 35 yrs. old . His birthday is coming on Feb.11th. That's the first time I'll be celebrating his b-day. I have already bought him a gift,a nice big clock for $60 and stuff from AVON ( online) and a little gift for Valentine's day on the 14th. Currently I am not working, I got fired.
MY QUESTION IS SHOULD I ALSO TAKE HIM OUT TO THE DINER/RESTAURANT OR MOVIE. Because I got fired from work, now I have to save money. What if I don't take him out( and pay) he might be waiting for me to do so. I don't know what he has in mind. I am from Europe(Poland) and in my culture a boyfriend pays for everyting . Now I live in U.S.A. and he's American( is a different culture). What would you do if you were in my place???

Everybody has different ideas, so I don't know what your boyfriend has in his head.

I can tell you this:
I am a man, about the same age as your boyfriend, and I would be happy just to know my girlfriend was thinking of me on my birthday. Just getting a present from her would be special to me. In fact, if I knew she had lost her job, I'd hope that she would save her money so she wouldn't have hard times. You wouldn't want someone you love to run out of money, would you?

There is no rule about how to celebrate a birthday. Do it however you want. Smile

Its true that people sometimes have different expectations, but no one can expect another person to be a mind reader. That's why talking is good.
