Should I tell my OB/GYN about a past abortion?

Hi, I had an abortion in '97 and am currently trying to conceive for the first time since. I am ashamed of this former mistake and do not want my new OB/GYN to judge me so I would rather not tell him/her. Can I get away with not telling him/her or will they be able to tell anyway by doing an exam? Thank you.

Yes!! You should be able to be open with your doctor about anything. If you don't feel comfortable with him or her then maybe it's best to look into one you DO feel comfortable with. It's the only way they can help you or advise you. I don't think anyone has the right to judge you! You did what you thought was right for your own personal reasons..it's just that simple. Good luck!!
