I have been taking Tylenol for my headaches, but my boyfriend assures me that I should be treated them with meds. He suggested some alternative options...but I am not sure what to do. This is chronic with me and I have to take something or else it will drive me crazy. Should headaches be treated with meds?

Simple pain relievers such as Tylenol, aspirin and other NSAIDS are the drugs of choice, but people with chronic daily headaches should be treated with prophylactic pain relievers. If these medications do not help, your doctor may prescribe alternative medications, such as Tri-cyclic antidepressants or other types of medications include beta blockers or calcium channel blockers. I can't tell you if headaches should be treated with meds, but I can tell you that behavioral techniques such as biofeedback, relaxation, psychotherapy, and physical therapy are important in managing chronic tension-type headaches.
