You should certainly make an appointment at the doctor’s to figure this out. There are many possible causes of dizziness. Sleeping too long could be one of them but it would manifest only in the mornings, it wouldn’t show up during the day as well.
The most common causes of dizziness are problems with ears, brain, and possibly the heart. Inner ear problems may result in dizziness since the organ of balance lie there. The most common dizziness causes related to the inner are Meniere's disease, vestibular neuronitis or benign positional vertigo.
By describing your dizzy spells, a doctor will be able to determine what could be possibly causing the problem. You may get a referral to an ENT or neurologist.
Dizziness could be also caused by viral infections like the flu or a common cold. It is essential that you see a doctor to determine what your problem may be and prevent further damage.
