Hello there, I am a guy who is 27 years old. My wife and I were at our friend’s house. To cut the long story short, he mentioned something about shunt infection. What can you tell me about it? I really don’t know much about it and now I am curious. Can you help me out? Thank you in advance for your answers.
Hello there, did you know that expected infection rate decreased from 20 to 5 percent. That great improvement was made because of better shunt placement technique, use of prophylactic antibiotics and increasing experience among neurosurgeons. I can tell you that most shunt infections are probably caused by some bacteria called staph epidermidis and auerus. I don’t know more than that, sorry.
