Skin around my fingernails is peeling and is red and swollen. What could be the cause? It has not always been like that, it has not been sensitive at all, but has become about 2 weeks ago. What creams are effective in this condition? Please post.

I can suggest you to try with cream that helped me. It is called zims cracked cream. I have extremely dry skin that used to peel around my fingernails too, but not only there. I also use body lotion with shea butter that is excellent for dry skin. Maybe you should check that with your doctor, because you might develop psoriasis or it could be due to reaction to certain medication.
