Skin sticking out on my back.

I noticed yesterday when I was going to bed that laying on my back hurt a little bit. I rolled over and ran over the area with my hand and I discovered a piece of skin just hanging out there. It was about a centimeter long and the area around it was red and inflamed. It doesn't hurt unless force and pressure is exerted on it - it's just there. My wife says she's had the same thing under her armpits.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about or is further information still required before anyone can tell me how to remove it?

More info would help. Sometimes repeated aggrivation of a mole can cause this. If it was, at some point a mole, see your doctor about getting it removed and perhaps tested. Women sometimes get them in their armpits due to cuts while shaving.
