Hi! I am 19 years old. I have persistent fear of social situations. Also I avoid performance situations. That limits my life, my relationship and work. Am I having social anxiety disorder? What are the symptoms?
Hi! I have same problem. I am on treatment now. I am best when I alone I had persistent fear in social situations. If you have experience persistent fear and avoidance of social or performance situations you probably have social anxiety disorder. Often you get physical symptoms such as blushing, sweating, shaking, trembling, tense muscles, shaky voice, dry mouth, or a pounding heart. People with social anxiety disorder become sick with fear over the belief they could do or say something to embarrass or humiliate themselves. If you have this disorder you avoid all socially related situations. The disorder usually begins in childhood or early adolescence. Doctors use a set of questions to help determine whether you have social anxiety disorder. My treatment involves medications and talk therapy.
