Son has foul odor coming from lungs and throat

I have a 20 year old son that coughs up white, rubbery chunks every day. He has horrible breath issues and if you walk in his bedroom after he's been in his room for a while, the odor is overbearing. I had a friend whose father had TB. The smell is identical. I don't think he has TB, but I am really worried about his lungs. He doesn't have fevers or chills, no loss of appetite, just a daily battle with the white chunks. They are foul smelling and larger than the size of a pea. Occasionally his breath is so bad I have to leave the room. He keeps good personal hygiene and is otherwise healthy. Do you have any idea what this could be?

he's got tonsil stones. gross but not harmful. i have had them for years but not the bad breath issue really. only if they get smashed do they stink. i have a blackhead remover from Sephora that i just use to scoop out my tonsils everyday. its long & has tiny loops at the ends that fit into the deep crevices of my tonsils perfectly.
