Sore spine and numbness in arms and hands

I am a 55 year old over weight male. The majority of my extra 50 lbs. is in my stomach area. For the last month or so my my joints have been hurting and my spine is sore between my shoulder blades. My arms and hands also go numb if not in use or I put pressure on them.
I smoked 2 packs a day for over 37 years, but have not smoked in almost 2 years now and have not drank in 12 years.
I am, and always has been strong with a stocky, muscular build.
Anyone have any ideas?
