Few years ago, I had huge number of injuries all over my body, which happened in car accident. However, about three months ago, I have noticed a small, pea-sized knot on the upper portion of my left spermatic cord close to the groin that looked as cyst. It is not painful, but I do experience some frequency in urination. I was told by our family doctor that was most likely a spermatocele. Can you tell me more about my problem I think that is spermatic cord cyst?

I have to disappoint you and say it is difficult to comment on this, because I do not have the opportunity to examine you. There are several structures and potential abnormalities that can account for the description you gave beside spermatic cord cyst. These problems are namely a spermatocele, hydrorocele, varicocele, or even hernia that could be described similar to yours. All of these can be better characterized on physical exam, so I think you should see a specialist from that area. I think an ultrasound can be obtained to determine if the mass is intratesticular or extratesticular, and to give you better explanation what Spermatic cord cyst could be. However, you need to know that spermatocele is a cystic structure or outpouching of the epididymus. The cyst itself is usually firm and non-tender, as you described. It is usually filled with sperm and epididymal fluid and considered a benign lesion, so this is usually not so alarming condition. Anyway, since I cannot diagnose you exactly, as I already told you, you should make an appointment with your doctor. He will prescribe you drugs or solve this problem the best way and if you do this, probably there is no need to worry.
